On the heights of Ribeauvillé, the Grand Cru Osterberg is a terroir of great mineral richness. It ensures that the grape varieties that grow here develop in a well-balanced and rich way.

GRAND CRU OSTERBERG

A rich, complex terroir.

This exceptional terroir is located on the sunny hillsides overlooking the town of Ribeauvillé in Alsace. The soils of Grand Cru Osterberg are mainly composed of limestone and marl, giving the vines a unique depth and complexity. The south-east-facing slopes ensure maximum exposure to the sun, favouring optimal ripening of the grapes.

The winegrowers of the Grand Cru Osterberg have perfected their winemaking techniques over the generations. Harvesting is 100% manual to guarantee the quality of the grapes.

Wines from this terroir are known for their great aromatic complexity, with ripe fruit, floral and mineral aromas that evolve over the years in bottle.

History and origin

Heritage of the Lords of Ribeaupierre.

Grand Cru Osterberg has been part of the Grand Cru family since 1992. However, it has already been mentioned in documents dating back to the Middle Ages, when the Lords of Ribeaupierre cultivated their vines there.

At the heart of this Grand Cru lies the cellar’s finest jewel: the famous Clos du Zahnacker. It has been owned by the Cave de Ribeauvillé since 1965. It has historically been planted with three grape varieties: Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer.
